How To Store Cooler During Winter Shut Down
Winterizing your evaporative cooler doesn’t need a long time or much effort. In fact, it can just take an hour to do. The following are basic steps to store your cooler during winters.
- Turn Power Off
First, turn off the power supply of your unit. You don’t want your air cooler to power on while cleaning and draining it. This will also prevent it from accidentally powering on during winters.
- Turn Off The Water Supply Valve
The cooler needs a water supply valve to keep the pads wet while bringing water into the unit. You need to turn off this water supply valve during the winter shutdown. The hose connecting the valve and air cooler must be dried out completely.
- Drain the Air Cooler
It’s important to drain the standing water inside of the cooler. This can be either done by opening up the drain at the bottom of the cooler or bailing out the water using a small container. Soak up the remaining water using sponges or rags. This will help to prevent corrosion.
- Close The Louvers & Coil the wire
The next step is to completely close the louvers to avoid gathering dust in the air cooler. Then coil the wire properly so it doesn't get damaged while storing it.
- Cover The Unit
